Yes, it's the same man. The Daily Caller highlighted this on Sunday or Monday, in one of their stories. He was a writer for a publication before he came to the WH. I can't remember which one.

While I am more and more skeptical of fancy college degrees this Jared Bernstein seems to have a slim economic resume. Note the link page listing his academic background...undergrad in music, masters or doctorate in ‘social work’? And he is an ‘economic advisor’...God help the Republic.
