Didn't that happen in DC about a year and a half ago?
Maybe just another oil seep.
Is it Simmons or DougR saying that?
Do not know what it was. Definitely something that has not been shown in the last 5-6 weeks. Been watching the ROV videos off and on during that time frame. If this deposit is making its way up, the first things we would see probably would be the lighter sedimentary material being pushed out ahead. So that might explain the white or light colored smokers feeding into a funnel plume. Will check out the Oil Drum and ROV feeds to see if anyone else noticed the plume funnel. It was actually quite striking to see that at the bottom of the ocean. That is why I reported the observation. So others might know what to look for. Would be nice if BP had a actual video of one of their known seeps for reference posted somewhere. Need an up close video and a distant video.
Nice resolution on that video. Not even close to what I saw. Basically what I saw was a group of small white sedimentary based smokers forming a wider long funnel plume overhead that went up and turned into the current. Something unusual apparently. Think you might even call it an Anomaly.
Well, it's 18,000 feet. There is no such thing as 18,00. You are correct thought, that they would tell what they drilled through.
Let's say I handed you the mud logs right now. What would you look for?
Would they tell you if the well is leaking? Would they tell you if the seafloor was leaking, and where? Just what could you do with the mud logs that the engineers at BP cannot?
What effect does 10,000 psi of gas oil and dirt have on the surrounding unprotected part of the well with the missing casing?
What do you mean by missing? There is speculation the casing is split somewhere. I don't know that the casing went missing.
If you would like to get an idea of what it would do, stand in front of something with 10,000 psi holding sheet of steel and see how long it would take to cut you in half.
Well, it would depend on the thickness of the sheet of steel. If you are referring to what the spray from a leak at such high pressure can do, I do understand that.
I've watched them cut Samurai swords in half within seconds with a high pressure spray of water.
If you look, you can find leaks all over the floor of the Gulf Of Mexico. You can go up the coast of California and find them as well.
another thing to consider is how many wells have be abandoned in that area that will be affected by the missing 3,000 psi of pressure.
How many other wells tap into that same reservoir?
