I remember well when I moved back to Ohio from Texas, the Ohio taxation authorities just couldn’t comprehend the idea of a state without a state income tax (like Texas). They tried hard to tax the wages I earned in Texas with an Ohio state income tax to make up for it to the tune of about $1,500. I told them:”there’s no effing way I’m going to pay this” and “if you want it it, take me to court”. They didn’t pursue it after that. No state income tax, what a novel idea. Here in Ohio, we have state, local and federal income taxes as well as property taxes as well as a state sales tax. Forbes ranked Ohio as the 34th best state to do business in 2010.
