My favorite movie “Against All Odds.”
Because it has everything in it. A fantastic underrated performance by the young James Woods. Football. The politics and finance of football ownership. My beloved hometown in one of its heydays (L.A. in the 80s). Great dialogue. Dirty lawyers. The best sportscar chase scene on film on the best street in the world on which to do it (Sunset Blvd). Tropical jungles. Sex in tropical jungles and on beaches. Murder. Gun fight. Racism. And the second best* modern “acting with eyes only” last scene in a movie, with a song to go perfectly with it by Phil Collins in HIS heyday. A scary dog. And a silly song by Kid Creole and the Coconuts. What more could ANYONE want in a film??
* best is Owned by Bob Hoskins in The Long Good Friday. Acting with eyes only is very underrated.
“Against All Odds.” Sold. Am adding it to my Netflix que.
One of the reasons "Soldier" with Kurt Russell is one of my most favorite movies of all time. A beautiful story of redemption of the human soul ...
