Youve heard about the yellow screen splotches and the wonky antenna that requires you to hold the new iPhone just right.
But now a new issue is coming to light: a faulty camera system that not only affects your ability to take pictures, it can foil your attempts to use FaceTime, the video chat feature that is the iPhone 4s top talking point.

Do you only have one computer? Why did you buy a Macbook Pro? Do you like it?
Why do you start threads that mostly bash Apple?
Do you feel that people should chose which platform they like? Should people be able to buy what they like?
You’ve already seen the customer satisfaction surveys, they are mostly satisfied. Why are you trying to convince people that they are really not satisfied when they say they are?
Dear, if you want to talk about computers, we can, but let’s do that in another thread. This is about the iPhone, after all. Try to at least stay on topic. After all, trying to hijack a thread is often considered trollish behavior!
Now that said, do you have an iPhone running iOS 4? Have you seen camera issues?
I don’t blindly praise Apple. And the customer satisfaction surveys say that people overwhelmingly like what they buy from Apple.
If we like the product, can we say so?
As I mentioned, I have one Apple desktop, 4 laptops, various iPad, iPods and other items from Apple. All of them have been wonderful [except I had to repair a touch pad about 15 years ago].
I still have all but my first Mac. Every single one still works. My experiences with Apple’s tech support [all native English speakers] and the iTunes and App store has been satisfactory.
I’m a big fan of industrial design and Apple, for the most part, not always, does it better than the rest.
See my post #25
I know 7 iPhone 4 users, including myself.
You’re afraid of stating your motivation for Apple bashing. I find that very telling.
We’re satisfied, you’re deeply unsatisfied.
‘You would not have purchased it because it costs too much. Remember, you want to buy the cheapest.”
Not the cheapest, the best value. I don’t like to pay extra for the name unless I think there is actually value there.
Do you realize most Apple owners are very, very satisfied? If you do, then why try to convince them they are wrong?
Note that Federal law requires cell phone carriers to let you out of a contract in the first 30 days. And just recently Apple finally waived their 10% restocking fee (which they used to enforce, even if in the first 30 days), so the worst will be reprogramming a normal SIM as needed.
I see you’re also an on-line psychologist, as well as a phantasmic troll fighter. A varied skill set, to say the least!
So why do you think so many people are having problems with the camera applications on iOS 4 phones?
“Why do you start threads that mostly bash Apple?’
Why is an accurate story about a real problem people are having considered ‘bashing’? Are you trying to hide problems? Control the message so to speak.
No more so than users of Nokia, Samsung, and Motorola phones. In fact, in cell phones, they're a middle-of-the-pack performer in terms of customer satisfaction.
“Do you realize most Apple owners are very, very satisfied? If you do, then why try to convince them they are wrong?”
Not trying to convince they they are wrong. Trying to correct the misinformation.
As I said, I do not doubt the problems. They have to be fixed by the company which they will be.
Do you start threads about problems on other platforms. And I don’t know why you can’t say if you like your Macbook Pro.
BTW, I’m taking the pupster out for a walk. BRB! :)
Yes, you pointed that out earlier. If we factor in satisfaction of computers and the company, satisfaction soars!
But about the phone, if they are average, or about on par with companies that you like, then why the endless griping about Apple?
I agree it is accurate and needs to be fixed by Apple. I’m sure it will be.
But you, and others here only bash Apple. You show up on Apple threads routinely ... articles that are POSITIVE until you point out that you don’t like them.
What misinformation are you trying to “correct”?
The study, which Apple excels in EVERY year, shows solid satisfaction. What’s to correct?
Unfortunately, there isn’t much of an alternative other than the iPhone for me.
I’m stuck on AT&T anyway, since they’re the only ones with service by my house and I was figuring on waiting one more generation before I seriously considered making a move towards Android. From what I’ve seen, the iPhone is the best available for me.
So, fingers crossed on it being in good working order. I don’t remember what I did with my 3G before I activated it, but I’m pretty sure I can check out all of the trouble spots first.
I’ve got an additional issue because I also need to jailbreak it. Heir Jobs has yet to provide us with proper nagging alerts for emails and text messages, which I also desperately need for work, so Intelliscreen a must. (I must say it amuses me that people fancy the iPhone a business device when it doesn’t have a must-have feature like nagging alerts...missing a text message is not an option for me, so if I don’t hear it, I need the phone to make sure I do...)
That aside, I’ve been very pleased with the operating system. I detest itunes, but I only use it to put music on the phone, which only needs to be done once in a blue moon anyways.
‘But you, and others here only bash Apple. You show up on Apple threads routinely ... articles that are POSITIVE”
They are positive only because its a love fest. For example someone will post a story about a MAC problem and everyone says they don’t have the problem. Therefor it must be FUD.
If I take the position that it just might be a real problem, such as arbitrary code execution (to beat a dead horse) then I am insulted, flamed in every which way, called a troll, liar, and so on.
Why do so many macbots make a negative post on so many windows threads? Why do you only rail at PSS, Forq, and me for our efforts and yet turn a blind eye on those others?
Just below the clock is a row of icons I use all the time: number of e-mail addresses, number of text messages, and number of missed calls. And then below that is my upcoming appointments and my calendar. And I can customize this screen however I want.
It's all "finger-based/drag-and-drop" configuration, you can mix apps and sizes of app skins as you like, mix contacts with apps and status indicators, etc. It might be a viable alternative.
If I flick to the right from that screen, I bring up the weather forecast (dynamically updates based upon my position) and my most-used contacts. Flick to the left from my home screen and I get my most-used applications. VERY nice...
And it gives you the features you expect in a business phone.
“What misinformation are you trying to correct?”
That running a computer with the mac OS does not have any security risks. That hacks do exist for the apple OS. That people need to take other precautions when dealing with sensitive information.
“The study, which Apple excels in EVERY year, shows solid satisfaction. Whats to correct?”
They why are approximately 92% of desktop computers worldwide running a windows OS? When the MAC OS is 6.61%. (includes mobile users and was collected based on web traffic)
74% of all servers on the internet run a windows OS. With Linux being about 21% and other variants of Unix being most of the remainder.
Its great if you love your mac, cool. Putting things in perspective would be great.
Well, we’re all different, I guess. There are a number of things I like about Apple. I personally prefer to build my own machines (every one I’ve built still works also), so I can control what parts go into them. However, I’ll say that the specs on Apple machines are quite good for the most part. There is definitely an ‘Apple Tax’ that I’m not really interested in paying though.
OSX is impressive and I’d probably use it if they offered it as a standalone product.
The customer service people at Apple are helpful, but the whole ‘genius’ thing is smug and kind of creepy. It reminds me of liberals who always need to remind themselves how smart they are and how dumb conservatives are.
IMHO, the slavish devotion to Apple that some folks appear to have is kind of cultish and also rather creepy. I’ve never understood it. I just don’t get being emotionally invested in a computer hardware manufacturer. I hate to say it, but they behave like liberals: anyone who disagrees is a ‘hater’, ‘troll’, ‘bigot’, ‘racist’, etc. Any criticism is ‘FUD’.
For me, the iPhone was the first Apple product I’ve actually owned. I’ve used others before, but never bought one. I’ve been very happy with it, despite some deficiencies that require jailbreaking. I can see myself moving to an Android solution at some point in the future, but for now, the iPhone is my phone of choice. I guess in the realm of computing religions, I’m agnostic. I do like Linux though. :)
