That is the problem. Congress spends the taxpayers money and not their own.
Isn’t it funny how he never once mentions the Obama administration? He lays the total blame on Thad Allen. Where does he think Allen’s orders come from?

Senators from the affected states should issue a formal (and highly publicized) invitation to the Congress to come down to see the disaster first hand. It shouldn’t be hard to put a sizeable delegation together and pay for this short trip with their own money.
