Well, he chose to be Infantry and now they do something called One Station Unit Training (OSUT), which basically combines BCT (Basic Combat Training) with Infantry AIT (Advanced Individual Training). So his “Boot Camp” is 14 weeks long.

He also wanted to jump out of perfectly working airplanes, so he got Jump school in his contract. So right after Boot graduation, he’ll stay in Benning to do his paratrooper training. After that, he wants to be a Ranger. So if he does that, then he’ll have an 8 week Ranger Indoctrination class he’ll have to pass ( I think it’s abbreviated RASP).

If he passes that, he’ll be assigned to a Ranger Battalion.

I have a nephew that left for 'boot' on June 14th. He is also infantry and also at Benning. He is in that 14 week training program.

ight after 9/11, I had another nephew join the Army and his boot camp was at Benning as well. W flew into Atlanta and drove to Columbus for the graduation. I'm pretty sure we stayed at a Comfort Suites in Columbus. As I recell, there wasn't a whole lot to do down there, but the people were just fantastic. I really love Georgia. Hope your son does well.

It's RIP:)
And the best place to fly in would be Columbus; Atlanta is about two hours away. There is a nice Marriott near the airport ( complete with a “Houlihans” with grade A chow)
My husband retired four years ago after twenty-four years; he was also Infantry.
