Pure fantasy. Just a couple of points:
1. There WILL be an Islamic Reformation but it will not involve Sunni-Shiite unity. There will be a shift to the Sufi Islam values that currently prevail among Muslims outside of the Arab world.
2. Peak oil will not be a sudden thing. Oil consumption will gradually fall as prices rise and alternate energy sources become more cost-effective.
Yeah, the Moebius conversation was taken from the movie THE CORE.
In short, we’re headed for the dark ages? Disagree.
It is clear that the 21 Century will do somethings for sure.
1. Incorporation of nuclear technology into just about everything related to transportation and energy production. Fossil fuels will account for less than 20% of our energy consumption.
2. Total breakdown of family unit as we know it as everyone will be a product of genetic and in utero engineering and essentially all of us will be working for the govt.
3. Nanotechnology will make communication effortless while at the same time make it possible to cover virtually every inch of the planet under robotic scanning, the only way to combat crime.
4. By 2100 robots will police the world. The result of uncontrolled terrorism in the first half of the century.
This one could happen any day now. So....
>>> Crash research programs were began to develop new energy sources. All but one were failures (the Douglas-Martin solar converters were an unrelated invention).
The Douglas-Martin solar converters originated in the short story “Let There Be Light”. As I recall, Dr Martin was often mistaken for Marilyn Monroe.
Robert Heinlein’s estate should sue.
And some of these predictions are based on stuff that is silly even now.
The Islamic reformation, brokered by Islamic leaders in Europe and Indonesia, resulted in the Sunni-Shiite fusion and the Middle Eastern cultural renaissance.Methinks the author needs to put down the crack pipe. Closer to the truth would be:
"The continuous homicidal/suicidal deathwish of Islam resulted in the deaths of tens of millions when several muslim governments attained nuclear weapons technology. Most of the dead were fellow muslims, but sadly some humans were also targeted..."
Borrowing ideas from his great grandfather, Reagan said the country needed to go back to the limited government of the US Constitution and get government off the backs, out of the wallets and out of the way of the American people. His push to abolish half of the cabinet positions resulted in Washington, DC having nearly 30% unemployment. With the opening of oil fields in Alaska and North Dakota and the development of small self contained nuclear power plants the USA became completely energy self sufficient in 2020. With the ending of environmental regulations that nearly shutdown US farms, food shortages that became the hallmark of the Obama dictatorship quickly ended and the US became once again the major exporter of food in 2017. Reagan abolished the last vestiges of Obama's dictatorship by reopening the Internet which had long been suppressed after Obama took over all TV, radio and print media and made owning a shortwave radio a capital offense.
The environmental movement, which had dominated American policy during the Obama regime, ended when His Greenship, Al Gore, high priest of the Church of Gaea, was convicted of heresy in 2017 when photos were released showing him, sitting in front of a wood burning fireplace smoking a cigar and his garage full of gasoline powered SUVs that he secretly drove on his isolated compound. Some church members were distraught that his burning at the stake created a large carbon footprint, but that his punishment was deserved.
