If General McChrystal is guilty of anything it is being gullible enough to believe that allowing a journalist from a left leaning publication was a good idea. One of the things I learned during Desert Storm was that journalists do a good job cozying up to GIs and making them feel important. After all, everyone wants their 15 minutes of fame.
None of the quotes that everyone is up-in-arms about is directly attributable to General McChrystal but his error was thinking that this journalist was going to paint his team and the military in a positive light.

Hmm, well one of things I learned from Desert Storm is that if that if General Norman Schwarzkopf had been allowed to continue to go into Bahgdad and capture Hussein, (like he wanted to and talked about in an interview back then) we would not be having this discussion today....
END OF STORY.
And if McArthur had been allowed to "take care of business"...
The question I have is McC's vote indicative of disgust with the Bush Administration's handling of the war? I agree that there aren't many liberals but my experience is also that most senior military don't suffer fools gladly - be they D or R. (I'm not saying W was a fool. I'm asking about McC's state of mind re his vote.)

Good points. I’ll be watching to see what he does in the future.
It is STUPID beyond measure to ‘handcuff’ our Troops in harms way. And to try them as criminals when they have to defend themselves. I am thankful you made it back alive.
Thank you for your service.
BTW I’m a retired Senior Chief’s wife, and I want the best for our Military. Not this marxist who thinks their health care cost to much and can only come up with a cheesy 1.9% pay raise for men and women who are risking their lives daily.
My dad (who earned a Bronze Star) is probably rolling over in his grave over this crap. While he was not career Military, he did his 6 yrs in WW2. Put the US Flag back up on “The Rock” under sniper fire when MacArthur retook it. http://corregidor.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=history&action=print&thread=503
Thanks Gail.
Zak was using FR to hawk his books. What’s his new FR handle? He went thru a couple of them
