McChrystal v. Rolling Stone: The Medium is the Message
Grand Rants ^ | 06-23-10 | Alan Speakman

Well, forget today’s sound bytes. Forget the hanging apologies. Look at the medium: Rolling Stone magazine. The general chose to vent (over the course of several weeks, by the way) not to the NYT, not to the Washington Post, not to The Christian Science Monitor, etc. No. He choose Rolling Stone, for God’s sake!

Exactly. And who reads Rolling Stone? There's yer hint at the intended audience for this little drama.

It's a big story, but it's focused at the so-called "middle" Rats - Hillaryville.

How can General McChrystal win a war when his troops are forced to use Obama’s rules of engagement?

Rules of Engagement or Disengagement?
By Jim Kouri, CCP

……..….U.S. troops involved in President Barack Obama’s much-heralded military surge in Afghanistan are complaining about the new rules of engagement to which they must adhere. As a result of alleged killings of innocent civilians by Afghan and NATO troops, the Pentagon has promulgated strict rules that force soldiers and Marines to hold their fire until they are certain the individuals they face are armed.

Since Obama is an usurper and his agenda is for the failure of America this General should be a hero, I don’t care if he originally voted for Obama.

Perhaps he was misguided, pray tell so were 50 million people.

Take back America!

And I do believe this is the opening act of the military standing against Obama.

Stand for winning and specifying how, but standing against? No, the military will follow orders or resign, because they work for We The People in the long run. This is however a clear message that they will not be used by the shiftless sonofabitch to oppose We The People!

Interesting. Never underestimate the deviousness of the "toons".

Rolling Stone (along with the NY Post) have had the most thorough and fair stories regarding the Wall Street induced housing crisis and the legal fallout.... As far as I’m concerned they’re right up there with the Nationel Enquirer and the Weekly World News... the “real” papers won’t touch real journalism ,,, just look at the Edwards story for confirmation.

Hm/... Will any of this influence the LTC Lakin court martial? I have no experience with the military. Do those of you who are military have an opinion about this?

General McChrystal and his staff planned this for a long time, and very intentionally picked Rolling Stone for a handful of reasons.

First of all, it kills the left’s ability to “shoot the messenger”, which they would do if it appeared in any conservative publication. Second, it has both a national audience, and while politically left, still publishes what is said without serious editing—unlike the other house organs of the left.

Third, it will publish the whole thing, not just excerpts, which is rare today outside the Internet.

and the “rock star” in chief will read rolling stone. he won’t read field reports or state laws that he goes around bashing, but he will read rolling stone.

The other thing besides the publication-of-choice that I found interesting was the fact that McChrystal’s aide’s were speaking so freely. That is no accident, either. The General has Obama’s undivided attention at the momement.

LOTS of people have been reading ROLLING STONE --- they've done a large number of articles about Goldman Sachs place in the total global financial meltdown. In fact, they are the ONLY publication doing intense investigative reporting on the wallstreet crooks.

Just PATHETIC.

No wonder we are all screwed in this country.......
