The Gulf is will become a sea of oil. Don’t let your own ignorance on stopping the fires in Kuwaiti wells cloud the present situation.

We’d rather have this gusher on fire. Then we could cap it.

Would you mind not foaming at the keyboard?

There is no way the gulf will be displaced with oil.

The Ixtoc 1 well was where? in the Bay of Campeche, the southern bight of the Gulf Of Mexico. That well blew out longer, harder and did not have the recovery efforts this one does going to remove the oil from the water.

The first relief well should be close to target by August, which is three times faster than they did in 1979.

Don’t let your own ignorance on stopping the fires in Kuwaiti wells cloud the present situation.

What ignorance on stopping the fires in Kuwait?

If the casing is compromised, the wellhead doesn't matter anyway.

If the wellhead was destroyed, it could be replaced--as if that matters in this case. If there is no casing integrity, a new wellhead won't help anyway. It would be like putting a cork in the end of a broken garden hose.

Relief wells and killing the well form the bottom has been the best bet since the ROV failed to get the BOP to close.
