Called Wachovia early this morning to reorder checks. In the process, I must have hit a button I wasn't supposed to.
The next thing I hear is a recording. "As of November First, all emergency procedures will be in place, and all Wachovia personnel should stay with their families. If you have any questions, please contact your Sector Supervisor."
Now, I'm not a nut, but the next thing I know an operator came on the line and asked me, by name what they could help me with. Got me looking over my shoulder, and I don't have nerves, just nerve.
I wan in the automated system, so it’s the sequence that I did. Like I said, I was fixing to hang up when the message started.
wan = was.
good grief. I need coffee.

Ok, sure. But care to share the rumors that support this?
Well, there is only one thing we can do to try to recreate it.
Please give us your account number and we can all start dialing in and testing....
If the powers really knew something would that really tell all their employees?
Trust me. I’m sitting uneasy as I read and watch the news. It’s one reason I write my blog in the way I do. I’m hoping to kick some people into gear so they’re mad enough to act BEFORE it’s too late, while we can still squeeze out that ounce of prevention.
But there is no doubt in my mind that we are on the verge of a major global change. End times? Meh, maybe or not. I prefer not to live like it’s the end times. I prefer to live like we still have tomorrow and tomorrow is still God’s. When the storm hits, I’ll respond. I have plans in place for the few things I can imagine and plan for... but until then, there’s always tomorrow.
Doesn’t mean I don’t pay attention, though.

Thought it was owned by Wells Fargo.
Wachovia probably is getting ready for a union assault like they did to AIG here in Connecticut last year.
It was horrible, bus loads of people they hired off the streets of NYC to show up at employees homes and scream at them and their children. I was at the AIG building in Wilton, CT last June to see if they showed up and buses arrived after they went to the employee homes. The people that got off the bus really had no idea what they were doing just repeated what the bullhorn said. Very sad.
Wachovia must be on the list to harass this June.
I can’t think of any disaster already happened, or which could possibly happen, that would have a company issuing a notice for their employees to ‘stay with their families”, rather than just “do not report to work”.

My husband has worked on contracts for purchasing this kind of technology (automated attendants) working in supply chain for a variety of companies and says that it is likely that this message was a leftover message used in the past to either directly communicate a message to employees or for employees to receive upon calling in. It would be very easy to accidentally punch in the wrong numbers and get an old message in the data base. He says the messages would just stay out there until they were erased. Also, although not likely for a company the size of Wachovia, he says that sometimes several companies share the same automated attendant service provider, and it is possible that Wachovia customers could accidentally access the automated messages of another company altogether.
So, everyone needs to calm down...except the guys saying the end is near, and they need to return to their bunkers.

Thanks for asking but it wasn’t my rumor, I’m just playing.
Wachovia is just as likely to have a recorded message 3 months in advance about a huge emergency on November 1, as is Petsmart.
It sounds like a test message to determine whether all the options worked. Just a wise-guy installer.
Clintonh8r: You are correct. Chase bought Washington Mutual; Wells Fargo got Wachovia. And I’ve got a headache trying to keep track of both.
