“STUPID” analogy.

If you HAVE a teen age daughter, do you let her drive - out there on the highway where there are several thousand killed each year - and HUNDREDS of thousands injured?

I’ve had teenaged daughters and son...they didn’t go out on the highway after 10PM until they were adults.

If you think the dangers of the southern seas in winter are comparable to the danger on US highways...you are NUTS! Highly experienced sailors don’t tackle a round-the-world solo trip without trepidation, and they have far more experience than Abby.

Nor do I allow my kids to participate in attempts to set records driving - not speed, not distance, not ‘longest solo trip by a 16 year old in a car’, etc.

Riding horses is always dangerous, but I do it and encourage my kids to do so - but with gradations. I don’t put my daughter on a vicious horse, or encourage her to try to set a record for the highest jump by a teen girl, or other STUPID things.

Risk for a reason is appropriate. Risk for s stunt is stupid. Risk for a TV show is disgusting.
