Breaking News! Charlie Crist Knew about Jim Greer's "Diversion of Funds"
Vote Rubio 2010 ^ | June 5, 2010 | Nelsa

Posted on 06/05/2010 3:20:56 PM PDT by Federalist Patriot

Jim Greer is the recently arrested former head of the Florida Republican Party. Greer was arrested at his home last week by Federal officials and charged on six counts of theft.

Current Florida Governor and (former republican) Charlie Crist is now running as an Idependent for the Florida senate against republican Marco Rubio and Democrat Kendrick Meek.

Greer's lawyer has just implicated Charlie Crist by saying that he (Charlie Crist) was aware of the "arrangement".

This story just "got legs"! . . . . .

Crist plucked Greer out of obscurity in 2007 and installed him as chairman of the GOP amid plenty of grumbling from the grass roots. Month after month, he brushed off louder and louder pleas to examine Greer’s spending. He certainly read the news accounts about Greer’s lucrative secret contract with the party.

“Chairman Greer has and always will have my unwavering support,’’ Crist said when Greer finally resigned in January, a statement that remains on Crist’s U.S. Senate campaign site.

“Charlie Crist owns this one,’’ said former state party chairman Tom Slade. “There were people in there pounding on Charlie Crist’s desk saying, ‘Do something about this fellow you’ve installed as state party chairman because he’s totally out of control. You put him there and you’re the only one who can rein him in.’ He just wouldn’t budge.”

Crist is the biggest casualty of Greer’s remarkable downfall, but he’s certainly not alone.

Other GOP leaders now trashing Greer either actively shielded him from attacks, ignored numerous warnings about his management, or worked to hush the controversy.

Sounds like the Florida GOP wanted Crist to go quietly. When he chose not to they are pulling out the big guns.

Bye bye crissy boy

“When he chose not to they are pulling out the big guns.”

Not really. The case against Crist has been building for about 6 months now. The Party was closing in on Greer’s misconduct. They booted Greer out of his position, and then it became clear that the Holder FBI was investigating the matter. In order to defuse the situation, Crist ASKED the FBI to investigate amid much fanfare. The strategy was for it to look like the reason the FBI was investigating was that Crist had requested it when in reality, they were investigating because of the stench eminating from the Crist/Greer team.

Another thing that Crist did to try to divert attention from himself was he tried to make it look like the FBI was investigating Rubio. Crist and the media attacked Rubio for putting personal charges on his GOP credit card. Rubio paid them out of his own pocket when the bill came due, but Crist tried to make it look like this was somehow improper. When the FBI began snooping around Greer, the Crist team began to talk about Rubio and the FBI in the same breath. In fact, however, it was Greer they were investigating.

Christ - a sitting Governor AND a senate wannabe - as well as George LeMieux - a sitting Senator - are implicated in this slimy enrichment scheme. Such fun to watch this all crumble around them as the months to November continue to tick onward.

Meanwhile over in DemoRAT land . . the Dems have abandoned their candidate Meeks because he polls so poorly.

Can’t make this stuff up, folks.
