I never thought the lawsuit over My Sweet Lord should have gone anywhere. Half of the Beach Boys early songs were basically re-writes of Chuck Berry songs, but they were nonetheless distinct songs with their own lyrics, melodic similarity notwithstanding. Nobody would ever confuse My Sweet Lord with He’s So Fine.
