Carly Fiorina is up with a new TV ad in the California Senate race slamming Sen. Barbara Boxer (D) for "talking about the weather" (i.e. calling climate change a national security issue) when she should be talking about something really scary, like global terrorist plots to kill us all. Trouble is, Fiorina has often found herself talking about the "weather," and even expressing concerns about it while mad bombers were likely plotting our demise on foreign shores.
Fiorina, in her new commercial: "Terrorism kills. And Barbara Boxer wants to talk about the weather...we've had enough of her politics. I'll work to keep you safe."
Fiorina, in her old job as John McCain surrogate, all the way back in mid-2008, talking about climate change: "I think it's important that when we think about taking on some of the great challenges now as opposed to leaving them to future generations, we have to talk not only about Social Security and medical care, but also about leaving our planet cleaner for the next generation than we found it."

Uhhh, that sounds more like a statement about what we do to set up the next generation for a better life, which includes protecting the environment than it's a statement about climate change or "the weather," with the statement obviously putting a bigger priority on Social Security and health care than on environmental issues. Obviously the context is about leaving the next generation in a better situation than we find ourselves in, so within that context why wouldn't we speak of the environment?? This sounds like a rather desperate, pro-Boxer defense if you ask me. Are you Devore supporters going to be able to give it up and get on board the effort to defeat Boxer after Tuesday or are you just going to defend Boxer against Fiorina like you're doing here???
Maelstorm, who did you want Fiorna to support in the 2008 race, Obama?? She worked with McCain on the general election as did many of us to keep this disasterous leftist out of the White House.
No but it sure sounds convincing her support of Cap and Trade. She sounds like one of those leftist environmentalists trying to “encourage people to make different decisions”. Carly is a CEO type. There is one principled conservative in the race, Chuck DeVore. Carly is a latecomer who till recently didn’t even bother to vote.
I think California deserves another decade or two with Boxer given the obvious lack of comprehension on what we need in order to get change in Washington. Boxer will tear Fiorina apart. She behaves more like a Diva than a candidate not showing up to many debates not coming in the front door at events where she might have to meet people. What is that about? I know one thing. Chuck DeVore is one of us and if we are going to go with big money unprincipled candidates then maybe the best we deserve are Democrats in power. Nevada had a big money beauty queen in the lead now a Sharron Angle is ahead. Where is California? Somewhere in political denial. We say we want real people with principles and who believe in our Constitutional Republic and instead it appears you are happy to go along with just another Republican even though polls show she has no better chance to win against Boxer. She has money but that is a lazy man’s argument. We need candidates that we the people own and Chuck Devore is one of those candidates.
Would Carly ever make a statement like this? I don’t think so.
“We continue to go down the road of making more and more intrusive laws proscribing and dictating to the people of the state of California precisely how they are to live their lives,” said Assembly Member Chuck DeVore, R-Irvine.

This doesn’t seem to be an issue that’s talked about much, but if someone wants to use it, I think the dems are wide open to being trounced on this issue.
Don’t try telling that to the CarlyBots over on this thread:

They seem to think FioRINO is the next Reagan...and they base that solely on the Palin endorsement.
They are out in droves today. FR is becoming dingbat central.
Carly Fiorina while she would be preferably to Boxer is clearly a soft Republican. Maybe she will change to become more consistent. I don’t know but the more I’ve found out about her the more she reminds me of a Charlie Crist type character. She doesn’t strike me as someone who holds positions because they are principles she believes in. Carly I really don’t know who she is.
DeVore on the other-hand has a strong record and will offer a strong contrast to Boxer if given the chance. Even Tom Campbell is fairly clear about his record though I disagree with much of it. Fiorina may have the money to fight but she isn’t going to win by standing up for the constitution and liberty. She is going to try to win in a tit for tat political game of dirty politics. She even reminds me of Boxer the more I see her in action. Demanding special treatment like the Eldorado Hills Tea Party event where she didn’t appear to want to smooze with the common folks.

Carly actually tried to have the constitution banned from a primary debate.

Usually you can tell a person by such indirect actions. I just don’t like her or people like her. She has this air that she is rich and that means she is the only one who can win. That irks me.
Charlie Crist in a skirt
I think you're confusing her with Meg Whitman. I'm not sure how she's a "late comer." She's been in the race all along. You may be confusing her with Campbell who jumped out of the governor's primary and into the Senate primary instead. And I've never heard Fiorina indicate she supports cap and trade.
What debate has Forina not shown up to? She's been at every debate I'm aware of. And her coming in through a different door makes you want to keep Boxer in office? That makes no sense. And Fiorina is a strong debater so I think your claim Boxer will rip her apart is rather premature. I think Boxer has more to fear from Fiorina rather than vice versa.
Chuck Devore is just another colorless nobody who Boxer will eat for lunch like all the similar GOP candidates she's run again. Fiorina is a charasmatic, dynamic candidate who despite the Devore propaganda is a solid conservative but who has the potential to attract voters who may not traditionally vote Republican, especially independents, because she has real world business experience and isn't part of the Washington, or Sacramento, swamp. I think she comes off as less threatening than a Chuck Devore type and in a state that has a 2:1 Democratic registration advantage I think we need a candidate who can bring in independent and even a few Democratic voters as well as taking some of Boxer's female voters. I really think Fiorina has a better shot at doing that than Devore.
As for polls, polls change all throughout the course of a general election campaign, one that's not even begun yet, and we've got 5 whole months for Fiorina who I think will wear much better than Devore over the course of a campaign to close the small gap she has in the polling with Boxer. Fiorina has the media savvy, the smarts and yes the money to make that happen. Devore to me has run a flacid primary campaign with no TV ads that I'm seeing and few media appearances which tells me what kind of general election candidate he'd be. Hell, I follow politics avidly and doubt I could even pick Devore out of a line-up. I doubt he even has very much money in his campaign coffers. You can dismiss these considerations as unimportant compared to some rousing rhetorical statement that attracts you to him, but they are practical considerations necessary to winning a campaign that cannot be dismissed in favor of a philosophical statement that gives you goosebumps.
