“I could see Buckley endorsing the Tea Party movement, as it refuses to be part of the ‘business-as-usual’ mentality which has permeated both the ‘Rat and RINO Party. If the GOP is to be taken back to it’s true roots as the Party of Reagan, it will be the Tea Party movement that makes it possible in addition to other grass roots conservatives. “
I agree.
” And consistency as a conservative is something that is mandatory, and not negotiable. “
And Palin doesn’t qualify.

RE :”

I have read theories that the Obama-ites, Romney's and the worst of them , the Paulites, have united and generated a coordinated attack by posing as anti-amnesty conservatives and attacking the base of the Obama opposition, the RINOs. That they know that without RINOs like McCain (and illegals) fighting against democrats that Obama will win.
The whole thing sounds scary.

Pretty much. Plus, we could go on about the "beauty queen" thing. The obsession Palinistas have over her looks is
freaky disturbing.
It's as if they equate appearance with competence.

I think you need to surround her (Sarah Palin) with the best possible advice
Oh that's a done deal, she's been getting advice and direction from that staunch Reagan conservative himself, John Sidney McCain.
[do I really need a 'sarc' tag?]

You gotta watch the Palinista propaganda machine
Is that the same thing as the Palinista smear machine, in which Palinbots attack staunch conservatives in order to eliminate the competition for their beauty queen candidate?
The very one. They may appear to be different, but they're just multiple manifestations of the same hydra-headed beast.
Now since we've not seen any significant response from Sarah's RRT (Rabid Response Team), I will act in their behalf and say to you Rabs:
RON PAUL RON PAUL RON PAUL RON PAUL RON PAUL
RON PAUL RON PAUL RON PAUL RON PAUL RON PAUL
RON PAUL RON PAUL RON PAUL RON PAUL RON PAUL
RON PAUL RON PAUL RON PAUL RON PAUL RON PAUL
RON PAUL RON PAUL RON PAUL RON PAUL RON PAUL
RON PAUL RON PAUL RON PAUL RON PAUL RON PAUL
There ya go Rabs, you've been put back in your place, right? ;)

Buckley at 30 or 40 or 50 would definitely have thought that way.
It would be harder to say what he would have thought in his 70s or 80s.
He was already halfway out the door and on the other side.

Chortle. I seem to remember that WFBjr's son certainly didn't approve of Mrs Palin. Of course, by then, Christo had outed himself as a complete turncoat.
The article title is rather disingenuous. Edwards, (Buckley's biographer) says...
Edwards wouldnt call Palin a model conservative.
I dont think shes done much reading of classical works such as The Road to Serfdom, The Conservative Mind, or Ideas Have Consequences, all of which make up the conservative canon for most people.
I cannot begin to pretend to know the mind of one of my conservative heroes, William F. Buckley, Jr., but I think his biographer is incorrect in saying WFB would approve of Mrs Palin.
Guess what? We may never know Buckley's thoughts on this, since Mrs Palin was not named as McCain's VP pick until 6 mos after WFB's death. If Mr. Buckley knew of her at all, it was before the relentless (and often self-inflicted) exposure of all of Mrs Palin's various and sundry baggage in the national spotlight.
I will be glad to stand corrected by Rich Lowry, Buckley's sister Priscilla, his nephew Brent Bozell or anyone that actually knew WFB for a longer period of time than this biographer.

Purist Conservatives..., now theres a group that has its head up its ass huh. Damn if they arent the only ones who unfailingly support our Founders, our Constitution, our sovereignty, or national defense, our... well, you get the idea. I say Fm.
Nice deflection!
But that's not what I meant, and I think you know it.
By Purist, I mean those who pretend, or feign, self-righteous outrage because they find one or two faults with an otherwise righteous conservative, and yet can't provide one example of somebody better, usually.

And Palin doesnt qualify.
Nice catchy phrase.
Now, how about you back up your post with examples of Politicians you feel are more consistant than Sarah Palin where conservatism is concerned?
All I've seen on this thread is innuendo, accusations, and slander, with no proof.
Back it up with valid comparisons and historical fact.

Deflection? Do you realize you just defined Conservatives who won’t buy into watered down candidates, the same way die-hard Democrats and Leftists do when we won’t buy into theirs?
Look, I’m being rather frank, but I object to the whole notion we can be too supportive of the things Conservatives actually believe in.
Either we believe it and intend to live it fully, or we just don’t really believe it..., at least IMO.
I’m not trying to make an enemy out of you, but you were tossing around the labels rather interestingly yourself.

Sarah Palin is supporting John McCain, FRs official position AND the position of our Founder is to back J.D. Hayworth, the REAL conservative.
Sarah Palin is supporting Carly Fiorina, FRs official position AND the position of our Founder is to back Chuck DeVote, the REAL conservative.
Sarah Palin has had nothing but kind words and praise for the RINO victim-of-racism RNC Chairman Michael Steele, who is the choice of the GOP machine, and we ALL know that Steel is no conservative, in fact he has stated clearly that he identifies with 0bama

You only answered half of my post.
Provide examples of Conservative Politicians you support who have not done simliar things, that is, have some black-marks of their own.
Bet you can't!
To: mkjessup
Well guess what?
Rabs is a Ron Paul supporter who voted for Chuck Baldwin (Ron Paul supported Chuck Baldwin in 2008).
He's admitted to that and claims to be proud of it.
This week alone RP:
1. Dissed Arizona's immigration law
2. Blamed Israel for the flotilla incidents
3. Endorsed gays in the military.
4. Said to take it easy on Obama, that nothing of the spill mess was his fault.
Baldwin is on record as thinking US black ops caused the earthquake in Haiti.
Meh. These guys are loonier than McCain ever will be.
