Andrew Jackson would not be "politically correct" in today's world. Sure he would. These days he would have illegal aliens.

He also was the only President that paid off the entire federal debt. Followed a couple of years later by a huge economic crash.

When I saw the cabin at the Hermitage, my thought was that this was probably larger and sturdier than the typical slave cabin. I believe there are some slave cabins in Appomattox but I don't know if those are originals or reconstructions--I think they are considerably smaller.
The huts the Irish were driven out of during the potato famine, when they couldn't pay the rent, were probably inferior to the average slave cabin...but at least the residents were free.

The three surviving slave cabins were not typical and all three appear to have been used for other purposes (e.g., kitchen-dining room) before being converted to house slaves. Excavations indicate that slave cabins and cottages built as such were about 20 feet square, making them much smaller than the three depicted in the article.

Years ago I read a biography of of a white male slave here in America.
Apparently back during the slave days while illegitimate babies were given or sold into slavery.
