USNI Attacks Michael Yon
Michael Yon's Facebook Page ^ | May 26. 2010 | Michael Yon

Admiral Gregory Smith is General Stanley McChrystal's mouth, so it's curious that the United States Naval Institute would lock onto my Facebook, get emotional, and launch a torpedo without thinking.

It's a great honor to be attacked by the United States Naval Institute for a Facebook entry. Now that they are being proven wrong, will... they do the honorable thing?

Something really bizarre is going on in Afghanistan. Michale Yon lost his embed status and was essentially booted out of the country by McChrystal. Now, he getting pounded by military bloggers and writers for pretty much telling it like it is.

The latest:

Tyrants hate truth ... It’s Obama-Speak’s minions trying to discredit Michael ... Stand in the fire, let the fire of truth destroy all else.

Anything having to do with Obama-Speak’s regime is going to get weird from here, as the thin skinned jug eared one can’t keep it afloat anymore. He is worse than a slimey oil slick.

Well, from thousands of miles away, I've been able to conclude a few things:

1) Yon, up to this point, has been the most accurate and perceptive reporter in Iraq, period.

2) He correctly "called" the victory there with the Anbar Uprising, long before it was evident to most others.

3) The Army guys I talk to here (officers who have been to Afghanistan)---and I admit, it's a limited number---like McC and think he's possibly gonna win.

4) That said, because McC was Obama's pick, I'm inherently skeptical of him. I hope I'm wrong.

I have been following this for a while, it is like a real life soap opera. The bloggers turned on him for criticizing McKrystal and then for MY calling out the Can. Gen. Menard......turned out MY was correct with regard to Menard!!!

Navy admirals should be seen (rarely) and not heard.

My son served a tour in Iraq and is getting ready to deploy to Afghanistan.
He admires the writing of Michael Yon very much.
I think he is authoritative, but I also think that if the society is democratic, Mr. Yon should have the right to communicate whatever he observes & reflects.
