Biden suggests Brussels, Belgium may be true “capital of the free world”
Radio Vice Online ^ | May 24, 2010 | Steve McGough

Even though we refer to Washington, D.C. as the capital of the free world, Vice President Joe Biden suggested Brussels – in Belgium – may well have claim to that title. But would Brussels still exist as a capital for not the allied forces in World War I and World War II?

Is this the same Belgium that ran the Congo like a concentration camp under King Leopold? Capital of the Free World, huh?

Not to mention the way Belgium ran Rwanda as a colony was a textbook example of how NOT to run a colony. First, they put the Tutsis in charge of the Hutus and did all these pseudo-scientific tests to show the Tutsis were superior to the Hutus. Then in the late fifties, they counraged the Hutus to overthrow the Tutsis. Violence started between the two groups in the late fifties. A few years after that, with the country very unstable, the Belgians decided it was a great time to give Rwanda independence.

It’s amazing countries like Belgium can lecture us on human rights with a straight face.
