Not to mention the way Belgium ran Rwanda as a colony was a textbook example of how NOT to run a colony. First, they put the Tutsis in charge of the Hutus and did all these pseudo-scientific tests to show the Tutsis were superior to the Hutus. Then in the late fifties, they counraged the Hutus to overthrow the Tutsis. Violence started between the two groups in the late fifties. A few years after that, with the country very unstable, the Belgians decided it was a great time to give Rwanda independence.
It’s amazing countries like Belgium can lecture us on human rights with a straight face.
