The guy sounds appalled that he and his wife weren’t racially profiled and let through without a hassle. I am too. I could tell by his voice alone that he was a white guy from Canada. Meaning....um....[checking my handy dandy pocket threat matrix]...white guy, wife, Canada....nope....not a threat.
(Hint: Pull over the Muslims from the middle east and Asia for further questions.)
Yep, and he said where they were going, the idiot “agent” got into a hissy fit because he wasn’t given a specific store name, which is not reasonable to ask given the previous dialogue. This wasn’t about danger, it was about an ego, and the “officer” being offended so he made this guy go through.
I’ve been in and out of customs about a dozen or so times in a few countries, and I have had only one or two U.S> agents treat me the way this guy/idiot/agent was. I was overly courteous not because that’s an appropriate exchange, but because it’s easier to be patient with them like the juveniles they are (not all agents, but these types). However, overtime we’ve abdicated more and more personal rights (these foreigners don’t have many here), but in general, so that these thugs think they’re all powerful. Sick and disgraceful.
There was no danger, except to the “officer”’s thin skin.
