You are right of course. The failure I described is a deliberate, engineered event, specifically designed to realize power for the political class. But in the course of a post that is meant to be reasoned and conciliatory, I chose not to emphasize this fact. I acknowledge that should we fail to dislodge the power-lusting social engineers through peaceful means this November, we are destined to a violent and ugly future.

Do get Harris' book. I don't agree with all of his premises, but he's damnably correct in much of what he says. One of the better minds of our time.
