Unfortunately, this is the same thing that drives many artists. I've often wondered if art itself is just a way for neurotic people to vent their problems.
Woody Allen has made some meaningful films. I thought Crimes and Misdemeanors presented a very interesting paradox--that all too often, fortune favors those who are morally mediocre at best, and downright corrupt and evil at worst. Embezzlers and murderers thrive, while those who follow their conscience suffer. But lately, Allen's movies have been formulaic, silly excuses to hit on whatever young actress he can lure onto his film set.
He's just a dirty old socialist.
