You are correct

However, the endorsement was from the "Tea Party Express," which is usurping the name of the actual "Tea Party" to (in part) solicit financial donations.

The "TP Express" group is run by political consultant Sal Russo, who sabotaged his millionaire candidate (Bill Simon) in California in 2002 (despite taking many millions from him) and ended up getting Democrat (and then-governor) Gray Davis re-elected.
