Um....we are talking about a cable company here.

As in, "F you! We're the cable company. Where else you gonna go?"

Like AT&T used to be when their attitude was, "Go ahead. Try to call someone on the phone without us."

When I was selling computer systems, Comcast was a customer of mine and I found that their senior management was interested only in what works and makes a profit. {Which is the way they should think}.

I'm now retired and don't know many of the senior folks today but I'm guessing that their management philosophy hasn't changed much.

This doesn't bode well for msnbc and most of nbc.

Comcast is in the same mold as Verizon. Believers in affirmative action, politically correct speech and diversity training. I would not expect too much change at NBC.

In cable its not always about “broadcasting.” Its about your target audience. Obviously you want BIG numbers, but its not always about getting a vast audience of people outside of your demographic. its about winning your target group, and maximizing your clients’ advertising dollars.

Say you are showing a hunting show on Spike. You go to Remington, and they pay X$ per eyeball for rifle advertising. They would not be as interested in advertising on American Idol. The wasted $ per eyeball that might potentially buy is much higher. Therefore, a smaller show—with a successful target audience might be profitable when on the surface it would appear to be a dog.

Cable TV is a lot different than big network stuff.

They ain’t your daddy’s cable TV company. Cable is just a part of them now. Their culture is very much, “profit NOW!”
