Robert Gibbs: Communications Director for Obama’s Presidential run, he oversaw the launch of the candidate’s on-line political advertising campaign platform, “Fight the Smears." The ad copy accompanying the launch explained this site was designed to neutralize mounting public concerns Obama was Constitutionally ineligible for the job. Two images created for this purpose were posted on the site as part of this electronic ad campaign. The first, conceived by Mr. Gibbs, was an image of a document captioned on its face “Certification of Live Birth” (“COLB”), while ad copy on the ‘page’ called this the candidate’s “Birth Certificate.” The second was selected passages from the 14th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. The copy accompanying this image steered readers to substitute the term “native,” which appears in the actual historical Amendment, for the term “natural born,” from Article II, section 1, put there by the Drafters.

Robert Bauer: Before becoming WH Counsel, he represented Defendant Obama in several eligibility lawsuits, successfully dispensing with these cases through Motions to Dismiss. In January 2009, in the Hollister case filed by Attorney Berg, he added a cleverly worded footnote to his standard Motion to Dismiss, asking the Court to take judicial notice of several ‘facts,’ including this. His client has already publicly produced a “birth certificate.”

Nancy Pelosi: Howard Dean, then Chair of the DNC, hired her to Chair the Corporation’s 2008 Convention, when selected senior members of the company would install Mr. Obama as their Presidential nominee. Her most pivotal function as Convention Chair was this. She had to co-sign the Official DNC Certifications of Mr. Obama’s Nomination to be submitted to state election officials, swearing he was Constitutionally eligible for the job. Because in some states, by law, only the names of eligible candidates are allowed to appear on the ballot.
