NY CD 19 -- Playing Field Changes (RINO v. Conservative for the Republican Party nomination)
Political Blog ^ | May 10, 2010 | Raquel Okyay

A contentious struggle for Republican and Conservative Party nominations has all political eyes on New York’s Congressional District 19. Decision-makers will convene at their respective conventions later this month and in early June to iron out differences. Constituents, informed and involved as any civic-minded American ought to be, are aligning themselves with one candidate or the other. Only time will tell whether grassroots efforts will influence the nominations, and whether a primary battle will surface in the end.

Narrowing down the Candidates:

As previously reported, Tom DiChiaro was never in this race to begin with. He has not filed activity with the Federal Election Commission and has ceased campaigning. If he is not officially out of this race by now, he should be. One down four to go.

It would have been a pleasant surprise if Kristia Cavere reacted to the strong criticism leveled against her in the press and on national television over the past week, but no such luck. Apparently in hiding, Cavere is not appearing at public events, has not launched a website, and is unavailable to the press and the voters.

That’s not a campaign for Congress, that’s either a spoiled brat moving along without a care in the world, or a political lite-weight incapable of defending herself. Support for Cavere is dropping faster than hail in a rain storm. Inconsistencies with fundraising claims and work experience have led most to conclude that while Cavere may not know it, she is out of this race too.

well you currently have a Dhimmicrat...so as a New Yorker from the 1st district as much as I want a rock ribbed conservative representative....I will settle for the time being for a RINO....Until I can move to a Red State, I will take what I can get here....

....of course I agree that you need to try to nominate the conservative.

I’m thinking the NY GOP could take a few cues from the Maine one.
