Rick Santorum supports Sarah Palin’s endorsement of Carly Fiorina
The Right Scoop ^ | May 8th, 2010

From the day that Sarah Palin endorsed Carly Fiorina she’s gotten a lot of criticism from the right that she picked the more ‘moderate’ republican candidate in the California Senate race to beat Barbara Boxer. Today however Rick Santorum decided to step into her corner and defend her pick.

Listen, this is CA. Carly might win here against the boxter, but hopes for another Reagan coming out of this state are nil. Peopl on this site need to keep some perspective.

Bump.

That’s it. Fiorina is currently the least worst option who can win.

We just had a titanic change in the leadership position of the GOP.

Three sides are emerging Mitt/Bush/McConnell (country club)wing the anybody but Palin wing (which I think includes people like Demint/Ryan/Danials) and the Palin wing. McCain thought he could use her. She had their number and made McCain and Carly come to her. Now they are flocking to her banner. Interesting times.

Sanatorium has just joined the Palin wing of the party.

Anyone else see the sides forming.

I think the tipping point was the resignation of Rep Obey. that seems to have shown the power of Palin to all in DC and got their attention

"All rinos this and all rinos that...you support any Rino agenda just cause they have an R after their name or have some connection to Palin? How is this stupidity working for freedom and ethics? Get out of the tunnel vision so we can shape the GOP to be conservative which requires a standard of thought and behavior for politicans conservatives are going to support. This is not the time to go along to get along - you do that when conservatives hold the majority in the party. We don’t. For that to happen, you must be willing to pick conservatives and reject Rinos and not just do as you are told. I know you are angry at me for rejecting Palin’s recommendation of Carly in California. There is no reason for you to react like a mindless party ape. Do you find yourself hating uppity conservatives as much has Mr. McLame hates conservatives? I don’t care what you think of conservatives."

A very dishonest post. First I was a dyed-in-the-wool conservative before I was even old enough to spell the word. It runs in the family. Not republican necessarily, conservative. But thats ok, you don't know me or me background. The dishonesty is ascribing some logically perplexing and unsubstaniated views and positions to me. The only thing that is correct is that I support Palin. So, once again, who do back sarajohnson? Why so coy and evasive?

Unfortunately, “RINO” is as good as it gets in California. They need to actually go bust before reality begins to bite.

I have to say that I really don’t care for either side, but looks like I’m not going to have a choice in the next 3 years. We need to give some new blood a chance—like Mike Pence, Cantor, etc.

I’d like to know simply because if you support someone that is a real conservative that has consistently stood by conservative principles and is a viable national candidate, I’ll support them!

If you cannot do that, I suspect there is some hypocrisy. Either they are not “pure” and you are too thin-skinned to take onboard different views or criticism, or alternatively your claim for everyone to get onboard to support winning conservative candidates in 2012 is disingenuous.

Disingenuous for goodness knows what reasons, as you are slippery to pin down. So, how about it, who do you support?

Rick is out of power because of this kind of poor judgement and self delusion. So...who cares what the Rino says about the other Rinos in the pack.

Rick, who voted conservative about 90% of the time, is out of power because of the poor judgment of the voters.

Exactly. This idea that anyone who isn’t 100% ultra conservative is a RINO is laughable.

Ronald Reagan raised taxes both as Governor and as President. He openly and explicitly supported amnesty. And not just using code words like path to citizenship. He actually said “I believe in the idea of amnesty” using that exact word. He signed the most liberal abortion law in the country. He appointed O’Connor and Kennedy to the Supreme Court who are personally responsible for the preservation of Roe v Wade and hundreds of other bad decisions. He transferred heavy weapons to the mullahs in Teheran. He cut and ran from Beirut and did not respond in any significant manner when Iran murdered 250 of our Marines. I could go on. And he’s a conservative icon.

A quick look at Fiorina’s website told me she’s pro-life and believes life begins at conception. That she was endorsed by the NRLC and other pro life groups. That she’s pro 2A and gun rights. That she’s for stronger border security and supports the AZ immigration law(the words path to citizenship do not appear). That she was against the health care bill and would be a vote for repeal. That she’s against cap and trade and in favor of increased development. Is against closing gitmo and giving civialian trials and other rights to terrorists. Is for a tougher line on Iran. Supports the death penalty. Is against gay marriage.

I found all that out in under 5 minutes. Now, if that makes one a RINO these days, so be it. But that sounds pretty conservative to me. On all of those issues Boxer is on the opposite side. I can’t imagine DeVore can be that much more conservative on them. Does he believe life begins before conception? That the health care law shold be super-repealed and not just repealed?

And when it comes to being a junior Senator from CA and part of a GOP Senate caucus that will like still be in the minority, even if he is a tad more conservative it won’t really matter. Carly’s “NAY” on cap and trade or on an abortion issue or to repeal the health care bill wil have the same effect as Devore’s, even if maybe she isn’t as a much as a fire-breather. And if the GOP does take back the majority, her “YEAs” will also be worth just as much. Any junior Senator will pretty much disappear into the pack.

I also believe that if she does win she’ll become more conservative by the time she’s sworn in. Simply by the nature of the campaign and being a pro life woman(and even moreso with Palin’s endorsement), the media, the DNC and the left will be out for blood. They will do whatever they can to savage her. So if she does win, she won’t have any use for them and will likely have a large stockpile of grievances built up to get her revenge on. The chances of her being turned are fairly low. And she has enough money that she can’t be bribed or have lobbyists who would have a big impact on her.

Similar to Clarence Thomas and how he said the Dems and liberals made his life hell and how he wanst to serve on the Court as long as possible to make their lives hell.

Coburn and Inhofe both endorsed her. They’re as conservative as they come. Same with Kyl. All 3 are 96+ lifetime ACU ratings. Are Coburn and Inhofe RINOs?

Now, I’m not saying one has to support her, and DeVore certainly seems fine to me. But lets not make her out to be another Snowe or Collins.(Although even Snowe and Collins are far better than Boxer).

Let the primary happen and the voters decide and when that happens lets get behind the winner. If the voters pick DeVore fine.

they will all have a chance to get their points across in the coming year or so.

what I find so evil is the attempt by some in the GOp to silence voices at this stage of the game. the effort to get Palin to sit down and shut up is down right evil.

I have no problem with giving new blood a shot. What they do with the shot will tell the tale. Will they wither away like a Hunter or Rudy or shine like Palin?

I agree to a point, but I don't see a rivalry between Ryan,DeMint and Palin. DeMint is very often on the same side and leading a growing movement that may challenge McConnell for the Senate Leadership.

Still you are spot on about a sea change in the crush of Obey but also calling the shot on Tom Emmer.

The Washington crew is putting all on the line in Kentucky in the Trey Grayson endorsement and if this is lost McConnell will be shown to have limited endorsement power even in his home state of Kentucky as Grayson is all over the airwaves plugging McConnell's endorsement.

This is also the former Senator who endorsed John McCain just weeks after telling the world about McCain’s decade of blocking every bit of pro-life, pro-family legislation in the Senate backrooms.

Why don't you look at reality.

DeVore doesn't have the money to compete with Boxer. He's been running for 11 months and he's only raised just over $300,000.

If he couldn't raise money especially during the rise of the Tea Party movement, how would you expect him to defeat Boxer?

Principles can't buy you TV ads and pay for airfare and lodging for campaigning.

Sometimes you have to be pragmatic and look at the bigger picture. Do you want Boxer or Campbell to win or not?
