The American Medical Association (AMA) is putting the doctors of America on notice. A major cheerleader for ObamaCare, the organization is now trying to silence doctors who oppose it. It is time the American people understood what the AMA is really all about.

The AMA is for doctors the same way the Teamsters are for truckers.
Yet another instance of where a clear minority presumes to speak for and act on behalf of a majority that opposes what they are doing. The last time a major interest group so badly misrepresented the interests of its purported constituents, the AARP’s self-serving promotion of the Medicare Catastrophic Act of 1988 culminated in a wildly unpopular piece of legislation that was repealed within 16 months of passage. We can only pray that repeal of Obamacare can be achieved as expeditiously.
I had a family doctor in TX who charged less and did not belong to the AMA. He was rabid about not belonging to the AMA. He was British born and had worked in England under socialized medicine and emigrated here. He was a very good doctor and close by. So, I checked around among other doctors I knew as to why he was not a member. “What” was wrong with him?
It seems that he just did not like to pay dues (which are considerable) and did not like to be told what to do, so he boycotted the AMA. In return, the AMA boycotted him — prevented him from being a staff member of the “good” hospitals around Houston and conducted a whispering campaign about him.
He served as our doctor for the 10 years we lived there. He took care of all our needs, including my son’s broken leg. We were very pleased and had no complaints. He was fun to talk to — very intelligent — and had wide interests.
So, I have been a skeptic of the AMA ever since.
Lsss than 20% of real Dr’s belong to the AMA. The AARP of medicine.
Precisely the reason I refuse to join the ABA: they publicly adopt political positions that are directly opposed to mine.

Ding! Ding! Ding!
We have a winner!
While I greatly appreciate doctors, (I just received three heart stents yesterday), the AMA is about monopoly & clout.
Kind of like the American Bar Association.
The list, ping
The AMA is a liberal organization first, representing doctors second. I’ve never joined them and won’t.
