It’s only a matter of time before that rich bounty is tapped and refined into valuable petroleum products.

Let’s just hope it’s by an American company, and not the Chinese.

Isn’t this part of a huge swath of land that Obama wants to (or already did) Federalize?

If this involves the extraction of any fuel that contains stored energy, such as oil, nuclear, etc., the environuts will have a hissy fit. They demand fuel sources that do not contain stored energy, such as solar (what happens on a cloudy day), wind (what happens when the wind is not blowing), etc.

Ever notice that?

No, it isn’t-—that’s mainly Utah.

It's being developed as we speak and in a big way. However, as usual, we have the enviro-nazis to deal with. See my link above for a despicable lawsuit.

At issue are the greenhouse gases emitted by drilling machinery and industry practices such as venting natural gas directly into the atmosphere.

Environmentalists — who sued when the Montana leases were sold in 2008 — argued the industry has allowed too much waste and uses inefficient technologies that could easily be updated.

Silence because, in the real world, 4 billion barrels isn’t much at all. It’s about 200 days of the US oil needs. Is it worth development of a new field and infrastructure for 7 months of production? That’s the real question, and why there’s little talk about the find.

I think you need to rethink your numbers.

All that’s standing between America and energy independence is Democrats.

There’s lot’s of exploration, drilling and exploration already going on in the Baaken. The first news I recall on the area was maybe 18 months ago. There are public companies that trade on US exchanges working there. I know, cause I played many of the stocks when I first heard about the area.

Brigham Exploration (BEXP)
Northern Oil & Gas (NOG)
Gran Tierra Energy (GTE)
EOG Resources (EOG)
Kodiak Oil & Gas (KOG)
Continental Resources (CLR)
GEOI Energy (GEOI)

Thankfully the Ted Turner land grab is centered in Montana.

Most of the land in the Bakken is in the hands of farmers and ranchers who have had the land in their families for generations. The majority are not selling the land, just leasing out the mineral rights.

I’m no math expert, but 4 billion barrels x $ 70.00 a barrel would put a dent in our national debt.

Domestic energy production of all types is the ONLY thing that will keep America from going bankrupt. Energy production creates wealth, jobs and tax revenue.
