All I can say is in the beginning they said (the media said) that there was no oil leaking from the well, then a day or so later they said it was 5,000 gallons a day now it is 200,000 gallons a day! I have seen the sheen on the water when they fly over it! It does not look as bad as they the media is saying! this well has been leaking for 2 weeks and the oil is just now reaching the beaches? Why haven’t they burned the oil like BP wanted on the first few days? For some reason the emergency shut off valve failed!!!!

I have worked in the offshore oil for 27 and I dont believe it was a conspiracy.

The rig crew had cemented the casing and displaced to a light fluid to pressure test and thereby losing a barrier.

They had a channel in the cement and it came back at them. They tried to shut the BOP and they had a running tool which wouldnt shear over the shear ram. If they could have shut the BOP it would have been a standard procedure to kill the well and bleed off the gas.

A similar incident occurred in the north sea some years ago but they were lucky and had no explosion.

It was just plain unlucky and statistically something that occurs in our industry every so many years just like a helicopter crash.

Incidents or accidents on rigs often involve human error or defective equipment. It could have been a combo of the two here. I dont believe it was a death wish on the part of the driller or sabotage.

In addition, most oilfield employees are loyal to their companies and employers and sabotage with a huge loss of life I cant believe is something they would willfully participate in.

There is no info. only speculation at this time because they dont know exactly what happened, and they wont until they get the BOP up and inspect it.

Thanks for saying what many of us are thinking. Of course, like birthers and tea partiers.. we will be scorned and humiliated for believing what the MSM will surely never investigate. So now I become an Oiler... wait a minute..

I also agree, tell me they don't have safety warnings & they don't have safety shut-offs!

This was a planned attack with NO warning to any sensors that may have been in place to protect this type of thing from happening by accident.

Where are the family members of the 11 missing, and the media coverage?

PS: And for the record, to shut this oil leak down, all one needs is to rotary cut the pipe off flush, which the oil industry has pipe cutters to do this, thread the pipe with a robotic tap and die, put a female double threaded screw cap on it with valve, and once in placed, turn the valve off.

Probably scared to try something like that. From what I read several kinks in the riser above the BOP are the only things stopping the well from flowing full force. If they cut the the riser it could potentially start flowing at such a rate nothing could get near it. You could jump from 5000 barrels a day to 100000 barrels a day or more reaching the surface. High pressure gas and oil coming at you under water makes for a lot of turbulence.

He is just another opportunist. Hitler didn’t set the Reichstag fire, he just exploited it when it happened.

The oil from above will deliver us from the need for oil from below. Its called Kingdom transportation, where you move at the speed of thought. This world on its best day is nothing but a gaint oil slick, compared to the pure love, joy, and peace that will flow through everything, without interruption, in Christ’s eternal Kingdom!

“No one from the murderous start of this in workers dying has bothered to explain in detail how this explosion, void of oxygen under the ocean happened to have taken place.”

Well...

A blowout is caused when a combination of well control systems fail – primarily drilling mud hydrostatics and blow-out preventers (BOPs) – and formation pore pressure is greater than the wellbore pressure at depth.

When such an incident occurs, formation fluids begin to flow into the wellbore and up the annulus and/or inside the drill pipe, and is commonly called a kick. If the well is not shut in (common term for the closing of the blow-out preventer valves), a kick can quickly escalate into a blowout when the formation fluids reach the surface, especially when the fluid is a gas which rapidly expands as it flows up the wellbore, further decreasing the effective weight of the fluid, and accelerates to near the speed of sound.

The gas and other hydrocarbons commonly ignite during a blow-out, creating explosions and vigorous fires which are difficult to extinguish.

If this had happened when Bush was POTUS the press would have insinuated that it was a conspiracy by the administration to deliberately kill wildlife and raise the price of gasoline to make obscene profits. Lord Obama will use this crisis to shut down offshore drilling and the ditto for using the coal mine disaster to stop coal mining. I expect we will be freezing in our darkened homes and businesses this winter waiting for the winds to blow and and turn the wind mills.

It will be ironic when the Chinese are drilling in the Gulf 60 miles from our shores. We all know what a fine environmental record they have.
