Did North Korea Sabotage Gulf Oil Rig, and Did Obama Cover It Up?

For the past few days bloggers have been speculating on whether or not North Korea engaged in sabotage to torpedo the Gulf oil rig, resulting in a massive explosion that sent the rig sinking into the Gulf and spilling thousands of barrels of oil that are now headed to the Gulf Coast.

This blog is an example of the story being reported, which is based upon a Kremlin report in the 'EU Times' which accuses North Korea of blowing up the rig in an attempt to sink a South Korean vessel in the Gulf.

At least one major mainstream media news outlet, television station WRAL in Raleigh, North Carolina, also reported the story that quotes heavily from the Russians.

The Kremlin also maintains that Barack Obama ordered an immediate news blackout, preventing reporters from gaining access to the area or discovering information that would confirm or disprove the charges.

If this story turns out to be true, then there is no doubt that Obama has engaged in a cover-up.

At this point it is impossible to verify the facts of the original report from the Kremlin in the EU Times.

“There was an explosion”. It’s pretty difficult to get a substance, particularly a gas, to explode unless it is confined in a pressure vessel. Hell, even gunpowder will not explode if you light it with a match unless it’s confined. Certainly not oil or gas or even hydrogen. It just burns.

Post 32 has an excellent interview with a person on the rig, 40,000 PSI of colorless, odorless gas blows water out of 5000 feet of pipe......and you say it can't explode.....I guess that big "foof" when the gas went of wasn't technically an explosion, unless you happened to be standing in the middle of it, like the 11 dead men.

And the BOP had been tested prior to the maneuver. He said although he didn’t have firsthand knowledge of the test results, they never would have continued had the BOP test results indicated a failure of any kind.

I think you’re beating your head against a wall.
People want to believe there was sabatoge, so they are going to believe it no matter what you say.
They have no life experience with anything even vagely similiar to the oilfield.
30,000 to 40,000psi simply does not compute.

Pick your targets, some just aren't worth wasting your time over.
I think I got through to some on a different post, but I don't know.
Being around the oilfield and other dangerous jobs for so many years, patient isn't exactly one of my virtues.
If the worm can't learn after you tell them twice, it's time to run em off. I've got patients for ignorant, I don't have patients for stupid.
If you have the patients to deal with some of these clowns that know absolutely nothing about it, but want to argue with you, some body’s who's been there and done that, more power to you.
