The Great Uniter Is Really the Great Divider

It was in Philadelphia on a March day during the 2008 Presidential primary that a then first term U.S. Senator was declared the great uniter, and having bridged the great race divide in the United States. It was after this speech that we read and heard lines like:

“Obama has also grown into the character he was born to play: the great uniter who can bring together old and young, black and white, Democrat and Republican.” (Edward McClelland; Salon.com). We had this great statement by Chris Matthews of MSNBC referred to the speech as “what many of us think is one of the great speeches in American history, and we watch a lot of them.” (Dickens, Geoffrey (2008-03-18). “Chris Matthews Hails Obama Speech As ‘Worthy of Abraham Lincoln’”).

I could go on and on, but why should I, must of us know how the media could find no fault in the man then, and barely now. If you want to know more, I suggest you pick up Bernard Goldberg’s book A Slobbering Love Affair: The True (And Pathetic) Story of the Torrid Romance Between Barack Obama and the Mainstream Media.

With his coronation in November, the chills up Chris Matthews’s leg grew greater and greater. Here we had a President who prided himself on being the type of politician who would be the one to really cross the aisle and get Democrats and Republicans work through the many difficult and trying issues that need unifying support and not unilateral action. Well, I am here to call BS on all that. Nothing in the man’s history shows that he is a uniter.

Let’s look at the great uniters’ childhood first to see if he was exposed to uniting ideas, because it is believed that the man rises from the ashes of

Chris Matthews always called the Bush family the WASP Corleones - I wonder what nickname he has now for the thing that is slithering around the White House.
