We conservatives are fond of wanting to oust everyone in office and for wanting to "vote the scoundrels out." But, I'd like to add one more level to the throw-them-out-of-government arena. Let's fire every government worker from the smallest village receptionist or sewer worker to the staffers of the highest Senator and every menial clerk and recalcitrant paper shuffler in between. O.K., this is a little bombast, but only a little.
It's not just pique at the famous laziness of government workers I indulge here and it's not just the fact that the only reason they got their jobs is because they are pals with one politician or another. It's not just that they are better paid than just about any real American in the private sector -- whether they deserve it or not -- and it's not because they are impossible to fire, nor is it because they get a better pension and health care than anyone who really contributes to society... well, OK, it is because of that stuff. All that stuff and more.
But, the biggest reason I've about had it with government workers is reflected in an editorial once published by Investor's Business Daily, "The New Beltway Babylon," where it was reported that Washington D.C. has replaced Silicon Valley and even New York as the center of affluence in the U.S.A...

“I Want A To Fire All Government Workers”
Italian?
LOL -- Certain southern Italians would not make their intentions known.
A town needs a receptionist, a bookkeeper and a mayor.
They don’t each need a staff of 30 with paid for vehicles and $30,000 a year in benefits alone with travel stipends and everything else.
Does this include all military and police?
Who will trim the bushes in front of your housing development?
The trick is, figuring out which is which.
What city council gets that? Certainly not small towns.
Small towns probably have less fat. True.
I flashed on Lawrence Welk...
80% would be a good compromise!
Who is “A”?
The original title makes no mention of “A”.
This guy certainly woke up on the wrong side of the bed. What an idiot.
And all the soldiers, sailors, airmen, marines, and coast guardsmen? Fire them too? All the FBI agents, air traffic controlers, border patrol?
look for the guys that look like they can’t keep up with their work, and are about ready to cry.
odds are, those are the ones that get everyone else’s work dumped on them because they eventually get it done.
“Power attracts the corruptible. Absolute power attracts the absolutely corruptible. This is the danger of entrenched bureaucracy to its subject population. Even the spoils systems are preferable because levels of tolerance are lower and the corrupt can be thrown out periodically. Entrenched bureaucracy seldom can be touched short of violence. Beware when Civil Service and Military join hands.”
Frank Herbert in “Chapterhouse Dune”
Cut all their pay to one half of minimum wage with no benefits would save a lot of money especially on the elected ones most of them will go find ambulances to chase.
Fire them all and after a week or two hire back any that you miss at a 10% cut in pay.
Best example is any govt. road work crew, 7 to 10 standing around leaning on a rake or shovel and one guy actually working.
And when govt types can hide in buildings I figure there are probably 20 to 30 leaning on a rake or shovel.
