I think we need to be wily coyote enough to realize when someone is on our side without making them make politically suicidal statements. I trust several of the potential nominees for 2012 to “do the right thing” and I know they will be MUCH tougher on this issue than the last few presidents. However, I don’t expect them to make statements that may harm their chances of winning. Sometimes you just have to have faith.
Moreover, we’ve got the dems on the ropes on the economy, spending and jobs, jobs, jobs. We have real opportunities to make some gains in November 2010. Let’s not allow Obama to change the topic. If it becomes all about immigration right now — we lose.
