AUSTIN, TX - Two Longhorn football players have elected to transfer, defensive end Russell Carter and safety Ben Wells, both of whom would have been juniors next season, confirmed on Tuesday. Both players cited the desire to seek more playing time as their reason for transferring.
I want to thank Coach Brown and the staff for my experience at Texas, Carter said. Ive enjoyed a lot of great times with my teammates and wish them continued success. I want to play now and have decided to transfer and continue to pursue my academic and football goals at another school.

Where are they going?
Really?
Go GATORS!!!
Seem like nice young men and that the situation is being handled with class by them and Mack Brown.
Hope they are released so they can play somewhere else next year.
Should go to WAZZU, which is 2-0 alltime vs. Texas.
I thought that even with a release, they would be required to sit out a year if they go to a Division 1 school.
Maybe they are looking at a lower division? Might not hurt their pro prospects very much. Might even help.
Being UT football players, I presume they have to get permission from their probation officers first....
Not if Texas releases them. Usually the school releasing them doesn’t want them going to a school on their conference or on their schedule.
Also, they could play immediately if they went to a Div. 1-AA school, or whatever they call it now.
Funny!
