Dems Running Against Obama???
The Voice of Reason ^ | April 20, 2010 | Texas Peartree

As bad as President Bush's poll numbers were the last few years of his Presidency, we never saw Republicans explicitly running against his record in their races. . . . in Republican Party primaries.

In California (the Debt Bomb State) Democrat Mickey Kaus is running against Barbara Boxer (D-Pushy) for his party's nomination. Generally, when this happens against an incumbent, it is done from the outermost fringes of the party. In other words, it is generally a VERY far left Democrat or a fairly conservative Republican arguing that the party needs a true-believer in Washington.

Mickey Kaus is an elite moderate-liberal writer (Slate, Newsweek, New Republic, etc.) who has jumped in to the race, and is running against Boxer AND Obama from the inside, not the left. What is striking on his campaign website is that this liberal writer running as a Dem is openly mocking the President and Senator for bringing the Dems to certain ruin. Check out this press release: http://kausforcalifornia.com/news/newsitem.php?section=PRS&id=8376&showcat=2&seq=1.

Kaus is a long-shot to get his party's nomination, but his vision of a party out of control and in hock to unions and leftists is a message the Dems should heed. Or not . . .November is only seven months away.

Obama is unbeatable in the Dem primary. Irrespective of how bad things are, or how much worse things will get, blacks are not going to abandon him. Even with black unemployment some 7-points higher than the general unemployment number, blacks still support Obama by 9:1 (or better). No challenger can unseat Obama when he enjoys that kind of minority loyalty (he’s still very popular with Jews and Hispanics). It’s just a matter of mathematics, not politics.

I’d definitely prefer Kaus have that seat rather than Boxer, but a Republican might have a shot at it if Boxer wins the DemocRAT nomination for another term.
