Sometimes blatant hypocrisy involving the death of innocents can drive a man through anger to disregard his own personal safety. That’s why I think he said it... he was pissed off, and now maybe even wishes he hadn’t said it. It is surely bound to land him in some serious hot water.

Cabinet secretaries (and other Senate-confirmed appointees) do not have fixed terms, except when they are recess-appointments.
There was no need to reappoint Reno, as she already had the job. She could either resign, or President could fire her.
