Yet still, most people do not realize that we have FIVE THOUSAND, SEVEN HUNDRED AND SEVENTY YEARS of Hebrew History.
And we have recorded it ALL. And still they try to deny our existence and our right to continue to exist.

You have a very slanted view of history, my friend. Without Britain and the United States, Israel would not exist. That is a fact. The reason that there were any Jews left in Europe is primarily because of American its allies. Why can you not just say, thanks? What Britain’s attitude to Israel today is does not change the fact that it was Britain and the United States that made it possible for Israel to exist. Every POTUS has supported Israel, some more than others, and America has and is Israel’s best friend. How long do you think that that Israel would last without support from the United States? If the Israelis are as ungrateful as you are toward all the United States has done for them, then maybe the US should stop giving them so much foreign aid and to give it to countries that appreciate the help.

Agreed. I will never abandon my Israeli brothers and sisters. I just love them too much. And the American people feel exactly the same.

We have a radical president who must leave or be destroyed.And G_d will aid in that cause.

Scusa, but without Britain, Israel would not have had to fight to return to the strip of desert they accepted per the Balfour Declaration. The British did everything in their power to stop the Jews from resettling Israel...including propagandizing the arabs in the region against them. Had that NOT happened, there would never have been the arab war declared on Israel before the ink was dry on her Independence....AFTER the Jews had to fight the British to enter the land in the first place.

Don't tell me about history, nor what I should or should not be grateful for.

Had it not been for Truman, TRUMAN alone, there would have been NO worldwide recognition of Israel when she gained her independence ...from Britain, which was never willing to give it up without a fight. I mean who do you think Israel's War for Independence was fought against?

After Truman recognized Israel as an independent state, the US could hardly do other than it did, but what they did afterward, was to keep Israel dependent on the US, even when it did not want to be. They weren't given much choice in the matter. Israel remained an American surrogate in the ME.

One of the reasons bill clinton hated Netanyahu so much was because Netanyahu had vowed to do everything in his power to pay off the debt to the US so the US could not do what it has done ever since Israel fought and won all of its wars. With every step Israel took forward, the US forced it backward. they were forced to give up land they had conquered fair and square....for the sake of peace with the arabs which attacked her in the first place.

The US has been forcing Israel into concession after concession for which they have received nothing but more demands for decades. Look what THIS administration is doing.

When Israel began to build its own fighter aircraft, it began as a joint venture with the US. When the plane appeared to be better than anything the US had in the air, the US pulled the plug on it and forced Israel to borrow money to buy American planes and American parts, and they could never, never get out from under the heavy debt load if they wanted to survive where they were.

Had Golda Meir not had a personal relationship with Richard Nixon, who was the next closest friend Israel had after Truman, the US was refusing to resupply Israel in the middle of a war, Israel would have lost. She came here and made a personal plea to Nixon, and Nixon personally ordered the resupply to save Israel at the last possible moment.

There is a heck of a lot you don't seem to know.

But I am not ungrateful for the support of AMERICANS for Israel, especially since I happen to be an American myself. Americans and the US government do not always agree on everything...as you can see only too well now.

Yeah, I was just reading about Trumans decision, which did not come easy. And as well Britain’s part. Interesting stories I didn’t know. Good reads.

Have been thinking of Israel since yesturday. How G-D called her, raised her up, called her out, sent her on a mission, the lessons learned and not all thru the old testement, Massada and all the other wars since....the Six day war when Israel cleaned clocks....Maps I looked at how the Jewish people really did bring flowers out of sand...just like He said. And look at you now! I agree with the writer....nice to see it wrapped up like that.

The greatest of all was 1948....though I wasn’t alive yet. But just like He said....and who would have imagined....in ONE DAY Israel became a Nation on her own land . Beautiful!

And I do thank God for Truman.....too.

It truly isn’t that I am ungrateful as the other poster seemed to imply, but my gratitude now and forever is to the L-rd my G-d who brought us out of bondage and gave us the choice to learn freedom and live free. It is the greatest gift man can ever hope to receive. May we choose to use it wisely and well.

There is some dispute over the reasons why Truman supported Israel. More than likely it was for purely political reasons, just as Lord Balfour supported a Jewish homeland for political reasons, mainly Jewish financial support. If the question is whether or not America has given enough support to Israel or been a friend to Israel, it depends upon your expectations. Compared to all the other nations, America has stood by Israel when no one else would. Even when it has been to America's detriment. The US has given over a hundred billion dollars to Israel, and that is just the amount made public. America has supported Israel more than the public will ever know. America does not exist for the purpose of supporting Israel. I believe that it is in America's self-interest to support Israel, but that view is not shared by all people. There is a significant number of people that would like to see all support for Israel stopped, and just recently some in the military have blamed Israel for the problems in the Muslim world. I disagree with them. Even if Israel did not exist, we would still be fighting the Jihadists.
Not that any Israeli leader has asked for my advice, but if they did, I would suggest that Israel NOT depend upon America for her survival. Obama is no lover of Israel, and he has already made it plain that he is not going to do anything to stop Iran from developing an atomic weapon. If I lived in Israel, I would be very anxious about a nuclear Iran with Ahmadinejad as president. He believes that it is Allah's will for the total destruction of Israel, and he is crazy enough to use nuclear weapons. The clock is ticking.

Thanks for the short historical summary. The upside is that Obummer has lost all control of Israel.

Obummer has turned Bibi loose in the ME.Not only that , Obummer has turned Bibi loose on the US COngress. That is even funnier.

Obummer is so inexperienced at diplomacy, all he can do is draw lines in the sand and have snits,just like his camel holing Arab friends.
