I would tend to agree with you. In addition to being a complete dunce, the man is a preening soft-handed cakeboy who wouldn’t survive 10 minutes in Af-Pak border country.
He was probably in Pok-Eee-Stohn for for the drugs.
Or if he really was engaging in intrigues, he was probably spying on the Mujaheddin for the Soviets. I think his commie tendencies outweigh his Islamist sympathies.
Also, I think the teleprompter would be a dead givaway to whomever he was spying upon. ;^)
