Just like the media won[t be interested in soon-to-be SCOTUS nominee Elena Kagan’s lesbianism—because she hasn’t “announced” it (despite having lived with a woman for years). Once Kagan is on the court, they will run nonstop pieces about how “historic” it is and Americans will say “Huh? I didn’t know she was a lesbian”.

Perhaps they're suddenly respectful of the personal lives of celebrities (though they were happy to trumpet Mark Foley's sexuality to every available reader/viewer).

Mark Foley sexually harassed Congressional interns, including an underage Congressional page. I've yet to hear that Oprah Winfrey has sexually harassed anyone. As for her possible lesbianism - who cares? I always assumed she was.
