Remember Jimmy Carter was ahead in the polls until Reagan said this and it became a well remembered slogan: “ARE YOU BETTER OFF THAN YOU WERE 4 YEARS AGO?”

Not a put down, not partisan. Just a simple question that makes you think about your situation.

Using the same line of thought, how about this: ARE YOU BETTER OFF THAN YOU WERE 4 TRILLION DOLLARS AGO?

It is a great question when running against an incumbent. Almost worked for Kerry vs. Bush, but national security, and a distrust of Kerry helped carry Dubya.

I predict that it will be a pertinent question in 2012.
