If not, this would raise serious questions about this professor’s account and provide reasonably hard evidence of some sort of fabrication/cover-up. Obama’s scribblings did show up in print in some Columbia publication during this period, but that per se is not proof he legitimately attended Columbia as a student.

Yes. These seminars- you sit around a table and thoroughly take apart and discuss current research. You don't just attend a classroom lecture and sit side by side at desks with your fellow students, with whom you hardly talk.

You challenge each other's interpretations and understanding. They would know him, thoroughly. I can still remember all the people who were in the ones I had in grad school, even 25 years later. Where are they ?

Also, if you happen to know the names of the Obama 7 in that class at Columbia, could you please list their names? Thanks.

And confirm that those 7 were indeed enrolled in the class and if the prof really was assigned that class that particular semester.
