I can never figure out what he had to be arrogant about! He was unwanted by his father, his mother was a premiscuous white girl who slummed it and got knocked up and then abandoned him to get married. He was a hanger on. a burden to his grandparents and obviously too stupid to be appreciative for what they did for him.
Arrogance is compensation for inadequacy. A person uses it to scare other people off before they discover one's inadequacy.
