Im 58 years old, but government education back then was pretty poor.

I will be 66 in less than two months and I received an extensive education on history and the workings of governments in public school in South Carolina. Did things change that much in eight years? My wife is your age and very intelligent but she doesn’t seem to have had as much emphasis on history and government in her school days. She is vastly more knowledgeable about those things than most recent college graduates though. Schools now seem to be mainly day care centers.
I don’t know. I got a pretty good math and science education, but History was neglected. I attended schools in North Carolina, on military bases around the world, and in Virginia.
I’ve self-educated on history and other subjects. I found English classes VERY frustrating. Every year we would be introduced to the noun and later to the verb. And everybody in the class acted like this was a complete new subject to them.
In my opinion, you get about 3-4 years of education in the 12 years of public education.
