Yes, and you know what would be real cute? Churches and other groups adopting a school. People adopt highways. Why not schools?

And the thing is, this could be done seriously and for real where educated people assist a school. That would be a big plus. Assuming our educators would accept such a deal...It could also be done as a PR ploy. Here, you really don’t care if the educators huffily reject the offer. That would be the story: our incompetent educators don’t think they need help! Liberal newspapers would stumble all over themselves trying to report this story,

“Assuming our educators would accept such a deal...”

As someone who grew up in the LA Unified School district, those teachers would rather the children remain dumb, than to ‘allow’ real educated people anywhere NEAR the students.

The goal IS to keep as many of these kids as dumb as possible.

But the time of the public school is over. With most states insolvent, the pension plans of the unions broke, tax levels declining, with all of the goodies demanded from the soon to be unemployed taxpayer, the system is going to implode.

Why help keep it up? It would be better to put into place freedom of educational choice for the parents.

Right now the tentacles of fedgov (and most stategovs aren’t much better, at least they’re smaller) are into everything so very little can be done even by the most wellmeaning people in the world.

Even the best doctor can’t save a huge hospital full of patients dying of cancer.
