Once I clicked the link and read it, it sure stunk like a feeble attampt at a joke.
And the author posted it here. Hey, noob - some things are not good joke material, and this thread is an illustration of that principle.
The article is certainly not meant to be commical, it is meant to bring awareness to the situation in an obvious way ... i.e. THIS is what the Pope should be doing, and here are some of the scriptures which support a change of heart and policy
