ROFL!!!
That's a joke, right???
The XXI Century is pervaded with myths.
Things like:
A fetus isn't human; just an "obligate parasite" to be destroyedon a whim.
Socialist Medicine won't cost the US Taxpayers a dime ... might even save money.
Adam and Steve can marry each other.
Buggering boys doesn't really harm them. Making a fuss about it harms them.
Barack Hussein Soetoro Odinga Whatever 0bama is a natural-born US Citizen.
Islam is the Religion of Peace.
God is dead.
Shall I go on?
Plenty of disgusting secularist myths. I just listed a few of them above.
Because you like the armed forces and hate the Catholic church.
Good.
Now for the Catholic politicians who support abortion—Biden, Pelosi, Casey, Carney, etc. etc. etc.
great come backs! :-)
only about 80 years
ROFL!!!!
You're startin' to look like a rapist protector, there ...
That is, judging by the standards you appear to use when judging Catholics.
I was talking about Europe you just listed the lunacy on your continent.
We have our own lunacies over here but the fortunately religous one is withering away. Even in Ireland no less. at one time every family was proud to have one son as a priest, but now they have become prosperous and better educated that tradition has gone.
If the Bavarian policeman´s son. Grand Inquisitor loses Ireland the catholic church is in deep trouble.
Heck, Socialism was invented in Europe.
Thanks, guys.
But an "F" in geography and reading comprehension, nevertheless, he will certainly graduate cum laude from the same school that you did. :)
It's the smell of
Goodnight, may the Enlightenment come soon- :)
Goodnight! It’s fun to laugh and it does a body good :-)
One weird aspect of this is that most of the abuse was between the mid-60's and the mid-80's, which is to say, 25-45 years ago. The diligent work of Cardinal Ratzinger when he was at the CDF, and now as Pope Benedict XVI, has rooted most of this stuff out of the Church.
So now we have the New York Times banner-headlining stuff like the Fr. Murphy case, where the offenses were committed 45-50 years ago and the old perp has been dead for 12 years; and without any evidence that Ratzinger even knew about the case, they try to make it Ratzinger/Benedict's fault.
And with every step he's taken to restore discipline, he's accused of restoring the "inquisition" ---by this same NYT writer, Laurie Goodstein-- (one link of many!) and of being--- let's not forget--- "antigay."
It's frustrating that they try to pin the blame for abuse on the very guy whose main "fault' has been doctrinal and disciplinary effectiveness.
It's like blaming the fires on the Fire Department, or the crime wave on the police.
I am a protestant but as long as you believe that Jesus died for your sins and was the son of God ,we all are saved. So it is not the catholic faith that I address. It is the catholic criminal priests. I’m afraid that Ratzinger was complicit in a cover up . We are not talking about misdemeanors here. This is child molestation and child rape.No one is above the law. Arrest and prosecution should ensue immediately.
I am so digusted by all these “hate Catholics” articles I just don’t read them. I thought this was a real article and that’s why I clicked on it.
Then it turned out it was a fake article written by an idiot for reasons unclear, and the thread is peopled by Catholic haters and probably God in general haters.
Your comments and Arrogant Bustard’s are the only ones worth reading (and a couple of other names, forgive me for forgetting - I read this thread sevearl hours ago).
People who call religious beliefs a myth are taking (in their own minds) the place of God - the All Knowing Supreme Being. Their statements based on brittle bravado only reveal their envy and ignorance.
Wanting to know truth is bad?
You’re a real ***hole, aren’t you.
Everybody of the discussion (you, me, everybody) hates and is revolted to the core by the abuse of children. Yet oddly, the discussions here seem to ignore the fact that sexual abuse of a minor is a CRIME, and should first have been referred to the civil authorities for investigation and trial.
In almost all of these cases, either the victims or their parents never brought charges, or the police and the prosecutors for some reason never went forward with the cases. Thus if the matter internally (in the Church) got to the point of a canonical trial, there was little to go on, and no independent means of verifying testimony. The Church is no power to do criminal investigations, to subpoena witnesses, etc.
If the accused had been found guilty by the civil authorities, the church could then have removed the offender from office with the stroke of the bishop's pen: much more easily than by having its own inadequate investigations etc.
(In my view, the local bishops who didn't do this--- I'm thinking of Weakland, Bernard Law, etc.--- are the most to blame.) The shocking, jaw-dropping failure of process and administration is a major cause of this terrible crisis.
A very even-handed analysis from a good source (NCR's John Allen) is here (Link).
You don’t belong on FR.
