Katie Couric's report this evening on CBS News focused on the group's problems with ObamaCare, high taxes, the increasing power of the federal government, and other issues that are associated with conservatives in general.

The end-game, of course, is to paint with a broad brush any conservative or Tea Party member as a potential homegrown terrorist who is probably a member of a militia that is seeking to kill cops.

And, in fact, this line of attack is precisely the one used by Barack Obama himself this morning on NBC's Today Show, when he stated that the 'core group' of the Tea Party is merely a bunch of 'birthers' who question his 'eligibility' for public office.

Thus, the fight is on. It is obvious that Obama, the Democrats, and their mouthpieces in the state-run media are intent on discrediting the Tea Party and all conservatives by linking them directly to 'birthers' and militias, the insinuation being that anyone who dares criticize Obama and his policies enough to protest is probably a dangerous extremist intent on taking out a few cops.

This article kind of makes the whole point that Hutaree didn’t get - you don’t have to go out and plot against the govt, the govt is going to bring the fight to you.

**** UPDATE, 12/28/06: The Christian Science Monitor has even more disturbing news about Andrew G. Arena. It appears that just a month ago, with the New York FBI, he was trying to change American popular opinion about Islam. Is he a federal law enforcement official or a dhimmi change agent for jihad? Hard to tell:
